Microsoft filmed 10 instructional videos to teach parents and guardians how to keep their children and teens safer on the Internet with featured speaker Dr. Sharon Cooper, a forensic pediatrician. "Ask Dr. Sharon" will be available on NetSmartz.org.
Microsoft launched the Get Net Safe Tour in Washington, DC on May 16, 2006. The Get Net Safe Tour is a grassroots effort designed to raise consumer awareness of computing security and Internet safety. In partnership with government, non-government, and industry leaders, the tour will bring training and education to 12 U.S. cities.
In each of the 12 cities, NetSmartz will conduct Internet safety presentations for K-6 students at two different schools. NetSmartz will also present to parents and guardians during community events in the evening. Select Boys & Girls Clubs will be invited to participate in a 30-minute Internet safety show called "Clicky Live" where participants can ask Internet safety questions and receive a response live through Internet streaming technologies.
